This afternoon we made our annual Fall family trip to Spicer’s Orchard in Fenton. We had a perfect day to be outside enjoying the Fall beauty! Everything was great except for the ride their! There was MAGOR traffic on I-96 West, like to the point of a complete standstill. So we did some fancy maneuvering to cross the median and get off the highway and onto Grand River Drive and take it around to avoid all the traffic. It was definitely the scenic route but at least we were moving. Below are some pictorial highlights.
This past Friday and Saturday we had our first Home coming with Emily and the Wayne Memorial High School. The marching band did a good job at the football game but the Zebra’s go t crushed by the Canton Chiefs. We did not get toilet papered again so that is always a plus! Saturday, Emily got all dressed up and went to the dance, she looked very beautiful and way to grown up for my liking!
Below are a couple pictures we took before the dance.
Tonight we are going to have dinner before the High School home coming football game at our favorite local Mexican place called, New Mexico.
The best part of our dinner besides the food! … will be our $5.00 dollar of coupon that we redeemed from Recycle Bank with the points from our City of Westland curbside recycling. Each collection we get points for the content for our cart that we can redeem for things like our $5 New Mexico coupon.
Tomorrow morning at 10 Syndie and I will be running our second 5k race at Maybury State Park. It is a Fall color run to benefit the MI State Police. We were able to walk the course last Sunday and it will be very different terrain from what we ran at Hines Park Labor Day weekend. No matter what place we finish we will have fun and celebrate the fact that we have both worked hard to even get to the place where we could compete.

I have a wonderful family and today we celebrate the life of my oldest daughter Emily! Happy Birthday Emily!! We had a wonderful dinner to celebrate at Famous Dave’s last night.
This morning I ran in the “Run Like the Wind” 5K race in Hines Park.
It was a beautiful morning in Hines Park. I was a little nervous because I have never ran anything like this before. It was cool that Syndie was competing in the race with me as well. I ended up doing really well, I ran in 27:31 , and finished 3rd in my age bracket. Syndie I will be doing it again in a couple weeks at Maybury State Park.
All set to go before the race.
Heading in to the finish line!
All done and very sweaty!
Me at the awards ceremony with 3rd place medal for my age bracket.
