syndie visiting in Canada

Syndie has gone for the day to visit her Mom and Dad at University Hospital in London. She had to take an alternate  travel route because of construction on I-696 and the Air Races downtown on the Detroit River. This is also the first time that it was not raining or snowing when she left. It is nice when she can go for a visit to be a help and encouragement verses the trips she makes when there is a pending surgery or looming crisis.

my kids are busy

The kids have been asking me for awhile what they can do to earn some extra money so I told them they could earn some extra money if they input all my books in Shelfari. So they have been busy and they are getting a lot done.

wedding weather

This evening I am officiating a wedding in Shelby Township, Mi. This is a bit longer of a drive than I normally do. It took me 1 hour and 50 minutes on Wednesday because of construction to arrive at the golf course where the ceremony will be held. Thankfully my time home was not as long, it took only 1 hour and 5 minutes. I am leaving a little earlier to make sure I have lots of time.

take action about the climate

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Christians have made a difference in how global warming is understood in the Nation’s Capitol. Evangelicals, and other people of faith, have been instrumental in warning of the threat climate change poses to the world’s most vulnerable peoples.

Scientists no longer debate the reality of global warming, of which human activity is the major driver. Â They say there is still time, though barely enough, to act responsibly and to avoid the very worst impacts of unchecked climate change. And they say the costs of acting are minor compared to the costs of not acting. What’s missing is political willpower.

There is strong global warming legislation before the Senate. The first vote is scheduled for June 2

The time to act is now.

Please do your part, by contacting the Senators from your state, and ask them to strengthen and pass the Lieberman-Warner Climate Security Act (S. 3036).

The Climate Security Act is the most important piece of climate change legislation ever considered by Congress. We’ve monitored this legislation since its inception, and we have worked with the key Senate offices to help make the current bill more just and equitable for vulnerable people. It’s a major step forward, and I believe it is worth support. Â We’ve contacted our Senators. Will you contact yours?

To make it easier, the Evangelical Climate Initiative, of which I’m a signatory, has created a website that lets you send a message by email to both your Senators in a single step. You can customize the message to say exactly what you want. You can also sign up on the website to receive periodic updates on creation care issues facing Congress.

Please take action now, and tell your Senators to strengthen and pass the Climate Security Act. Then forward this email to your friends and ask them to do the same.

In Christ,
Jim Ball
President and CEO

wedding time

I am off to officiate another wedding rehearsal. This time in Shelby Township. It could take me anywhere from 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours depending on traffic flow. I read in the paper that there will be nasty work on I-696 .

let’s try again….

Syndie and I had to postpone celebrating our 15th anniversary because she was out of town in London to be with her Dad and family for a surgery.

We planned to go out for lunch today but as we were changing our clothes to go out my son Josiah cut his finger on a drinking glass and we had to take him to urgent care. Now he has 8 stitches and we have to make another plan to go out.

ready for the weekend

Boy, am I glad that it is Friday! I feel very fatigued today for some reason. I am looking forward to sleeping in the next couple of days. I have not gone to bed as early as I should a few nights this week and when I get up at 4:00 am it catches up with me. It is also nice that it is a holiday weekend. No plans to travel anywhere far. Which is good with gas a plus $4.00. We plan to go out with friends tonight, a bonfire Sunday night, and BBQ for Monday. I also hope to have some time to just sit on the patio and relax but we will see how that pans out.
