Today officially marks the passing of summer as the school year begins for 2010/2011. Our kids this year will all be riding the bus because of school consolidations in our district related to the economy. This will also be our second year of our three kids all being at different schools. So ready or not today the adventure begins!

Syndie Breaks 60 Minute Mark

Yesterday, my wife Syndie established a new personal record for a 10K road race. She ran the Run Like the Wind 10k in Hines Park yesterday. She ran the 10K course in 59 minutes and 42 seconds. She also won a third place medal for her age division. She did a great job and I am very proud of her! Way to go Syndie!!

First Fall Events for the girls

This weekend Emily and Sam each had their first events of the season. Emily had her first marching band performance for Wayne High on Thursday night as well as her first parade on Saturday. Sam had her first cheer leading outing for the Westland Meteors today. They both did an excellent job. Lots of time this Fall will be spent at football games cheering on the band and the cheer leaders. We also participated in a back pack handout at Highland Park Community Outreach.

We had a wonderful time with friends and family as we gathered to witness and participate in the baptism of Emily and Samantha. It was a very moving and emotional time for all of us. Very Special time for all!!

Exciting Weekend

Tomorrow both of my girls Emily and Samantha are making public their relationship to Christ by being baptized in front of friends and family at Life Church.
We have family coming into town from both Canada and Illinois as well friends from Dundee.
It will be an exciting day and a special moment in their lives. It is Syndie and I prayer that this public profession of Faith in Christ will be a significant day in their lives and be their commissioning to live a life of Kingdom service.
From the time they were babies we have prayed that they would love God, love other people, and use their gifts and abilities to make the work a better place.

Syndie’s 1st 10K Race

This past Saturday Syndie ran her first 10K road race in Southwestern Ontario along the scenic St. Clair River.
Syndie did a really great job! She was a couple of minutes off here goal pace but she did well overall.
JJ and I were there to cheer her on as well as our good friends Chris and Laura Garvey.

Great Vacation!!!

Our family had a great vacation this past week. We spent the week at Houghton Lake at a cabin owned by my boss at OLGC. We enjoyed the beach at the lake and some local attractions like mini golf and go carts. We also took one day and traveled up to the Upper Peninsula of Mi so that we could see Tahquamemon Falls and White Fish Point on Lake Superior.

09/10 School Year Completed

Today marks the end of the school year for our three kids. This was the first year we had the kids in three different schools. The kids are looking forward to a break for the summer. We have lots of fun activities planned. Some of the highpoints of the summer will be a trip up North, visiting Grandparents, sleepovers, and a new trampoline.
Bad Contractor Update

A couple of years a go we were on the Fox 2 Hall of Shame because of a con-artist contractor that ripped us off instead of fixing our basement. Last night Fox 2 had an update and the contractor is going to jail.
