Proud of my son
Recently my Mom sent each of my kids a $100 in memory of their Great Grandmother Perkins who lived to be 106. Each of them was allowed to use as they wish for something special. Josiah chose on his own to buy a goat and two chickens for a needy family in a developing country. He was able to buy all three animals from the World Vision Gift Catalog. Here is a picture of Josiah getting ready to mail in his money order.

Timely Advent Message
I listed to this message this morning before the students and staff arrived for school. It is well worth a listen.
12/14/2008 – Christmas Guilt, Greg Boyd – sermon length is 39:26 minutes
As Kingdom people, we always want to be aware of the dangers of consumerism and irresponsible spending. However, if we take on too much responsibility for fixing the world we can fall into guilt and become judgmental. Jesus modeled a balance between responsibility to those who are less fortunate, and the freedom we have to celebrate and share the good things that God has given us. Focus Scripture: 1 Timothy 6: 17-18

International Credit Union Day
Happy International Credit Union Day!
October 16, 2008
We are very happy that we switched our family accounts to Parkside Credit Union last year. It is walking distance from our home and we have gotten to know the staff as well. It is nice when the staff know you by name and when you run into then at the stores in the neighborhood. May bye its time you think about switching to a credit union as well.

money,money,money!!
A lot of talk about money and the economy these days. Most of it very negative because of the immediate and impending ramifications of our personal and countries financial affairs. It is good to hear about some people taking some proactive steps to to address the issues connected to all this. Below are two specific ones I have come across in the last week.
